What to Expect After the Rhinoplasty
Beauty Tip

What to Expect After the Rhinoplasty

It's one of the most traditional plastic surgery procedures known to man, with the rhinoplasty (also known as the "nose job") being carried out on countless celebrity faces over the years.

Recently, it has become even more prominent for your Average Joe, with many high street establishments like this facility offering the rhinoplasty at affordable rates.

While most of us probably firmly understand exactly what this form of treatment is now about, less information is available in relation to the immediate aftermath. Therefore, if you are considering going under the knife, here is our lowdown on what to expect after the rhinoplasty procedure.

Work might be a problem

Something that a lot of people don't seem to realise is that the rhinoplasty is quite an advanced procedure and your nose will need a little time to fully recover. It will be bandaged and left with a splint for at least a week after the procedure, meaning that some patients might not feel comfortable venturing out of the house and continuing with their day-to-day tasks.

Bruising is common

Another reason why you might want to limit your exposure to the outside world is because of the amount of bruising and the "puffy eyes" that can occur.
Aesthetics aside, you may also need to take pain relief to combat the above issues. Some doctors will prescribe it regardless, while others may just recommend cold therapy in a bid to reduce the swelling.

"Normal" activities are off limits

Finally, don't be under the impression that you can jump straight back into your regular fitness class. We'll again reiterate that this is a complicated procedure and the typical advice is to stay as still as possible, with your head leaning back at as many opportunities as possible. This should last for a minimum of a week, so make sure you plan accordingly before you book your date in with the surgeon.
