Risk of Plastic Surgery
Plastic Surgery is the process performed by the surgeons involving a various techniques, in order to change the appearance or function of the part or parts of the body which is to be operated. There are many type of plastic surgery procedure possible. Details of few Non Cosmetic Surgical Procedures are:-
- Botox Injection: Botox is injected in the facial muscles to paralyze it so that lines don't form on them when a person squints or frowns. The risk involved in it are face pain, muscle weakness, flu like symptoms, headaches, loss of the facial expression, droopy eyelids, asymmetric smile, drooling.
- Fat or Collagen Injection: fat from the person's abdomen or thigh, or collagen from the cow is injected in the facial wrinkles, scars or pits. The risk factors involved are trigger autoimmune disease, contour problems, hives, rash, swelling, flu like symptoms.
- Dermabrasion: A spinning, small wheel or the brush with the roughened surface removes upper layers of the facial skin. New layer of the skin appears during the healing, giving a face smoother appearance. Used to treat heavy wrinkles, facial scars and the problems like rosacea. The risk factors involved are abnormal color changes, whiteheads, infection, allergic reaction, fever blisters, cold sores, thickened skin.
- Hyaluronic acid injection: This gel is then injected into the person’s face to smoothen wrinkles, scars and lines on the skin. The risk factors involved are swelling, infection, redness, tenderness, acne, lumps, and tissue hardening, Risk unknown if it is used in combination of the collagen.
- Laser hair removal: Laser light is then passed over to the skin in order to remove hair. The risk factors involved are hair re-growth, scarring, change in the skin color.
- Laser skin resurfacing: Laser light is then used to remove the lines, wrinkles, age spots, scars, tattoos, warts and moles from surface of the person’s skin. The risk factors involved are burns, scarring, change in the skin color, infection, herpes flare up (fever, flu like symptoms and facial pain).
- Sclerotherapy: A solution is then injected into the spider and into the varicose leg veins (red blood and small purple vessels) to remove the skin veins. The risk factors involved are blood clots, color changes in skin, vein removal might not be permanent, scarring.
- Chemical Peel: A solution is then put onto face (or parts of face) that causes skin to peel off and blister. It is replaced by the new skin. The risks involved are whiteheads, Infection, raised scarring, allergic reaction, cold sores, color changes or the blotchiness, heart problems.
- Tooth Whiteners (the peroxide agents): Depending on the type of product and the product itself, either the dentist or the person applies peroxide using the strips; a mouth guard using a gel; or a tray which is put inside the person’s mouth around the person’s teeth. The risks involved are, If it is not customized for the person by the dentist or the dental hygienist and there may be an unknown ingredients and an unknown results.
