What to Expect After the Rhinoplasty
Beauty Tip

A ‘nose job’ or Rhinoplasty is the nose plastic surgery. In United States, Nose plastic surgery is one of most requested and sought cosmetic course of action. Nose plastic surgery, as the names says is the reshaping or the repairing of the nose to get a more comparative shape and size with the face. It can even rectify any deformity of nose which was caused by some injury or by birth. It changes the nose’s shape to give it a more balanced and proportioned look that works better with the shape and size of the face of the patient.

Opting for rhinoplasty or a nose plastic surgery is a big decision and hence should not be taken abruptly and unconscientiously. You should give it a good thought before opting for one. You should consult doctors and surgeon and find out whether you are a suitable candidate or not for nose plastic surgery or rhinoplasty. You can opt for nose plastic surgery to either alter the tip of the nose or the bridge of the nose, or increase or reduce the shape, or even change the site between the upper lip and the nose and to thin the length of the nostrils. It can even help in curing breathing conditions many a times.

Generally there are two types of nose plastic surgery available: closed and open surgery.

Closed surgery

Closed nose plastic is often chosen by the surgeons for minor courses of action. The surgeon make cuts inside the nose and makes them visible outside. The cartilage is separated from the bone by the surgeon in closed nose plastic surgery and they carry out cosmetic or corrective alterations inside the nose to give it the desired shape.

Open surgery

On the contrary, nose plastic surgery is chosen for major nose surgeries. In this the surgeon makes cuts on the columella. The part of the nose which separates the nostrils is known as columella. Open nose surgery is a more complex and intricate procedure than the closed nose surgery. Generally it is held in reserve for the major changes in the nose structure.

Done with the Surgery: what after that?

After the surgery, a sterile material is positioned in the interior of the nose in order to help it sustain the new shape. A support may even be used to guard the nose and promote the new shape. You may experience some bruising and puffiness around the nose, cheek areas and the eye. But don’t worry. It will go off within a week or so.

You have to take special care after the surgery as the days which follow the nose surgery are critical as they will decide the success or failure of the surgery. During this time, special care and protection should be given to your nose against bruising and bumps. Your doc may even recommend certain medication to trim down the swelling and the pain. Just two weeks and all the dressing will be removed.
