What is cellulite ?

Cellulite is not a disease or a disorder, but it can make a difference to the figure and cause a great deal of concern. Cellulite is a kind of fat tissue in the subcutaneous layer of the skin that contains constricting bands of connective tissue. Cellulite is that lumpy,rippled skin appearance common to men and women of all sizes and ages, that one can not seem to get rid of. Cellulite is not necessarily a factor of body weight. You don't have to be heavy to have cellulite. Cellulite is alleged to be a special type of "fat gone wrong," a combination of fat, water, and "toxic wastes" that the body has failed to eliminate.

How is the cellulite formed ?

All the muscles of the body are wrapped in a padding of fatty connective tissue. The fatty cells of the padding, bathed in a liquid medium, are held in place by a network of fibres, nourished and cleansed by body fluids. These fluids cleanse the fatty tissue, when this process is slowed down, the tissue is flooded with waste materials that thicken into gelatin-like substance and hardens to form immovable pockets.

What are the causes of cellulite - so that you can fight for the reduction or to get rid of cellulite

  • Hormonal changes at puberty, during pregnancy, pre/post menopausal.
  • Crash diets increase the risk of cellulite because the body thinks it's starving and by attempting to compensate, it assists in cellulite formation. All saturated fats help build cellulite. These fats block the arteries and get trapped in the tissue as well, preventing sufficient waste and toxin elimination.
  • Anomalies, concerning enzymatic or hormonal/endocrine functions an example would be, too much estrogen, which may increase fat storage.
  • Heredity may be the reason.
  • Lack of exercise reduces the blood supply promoting fluid retention in cellulite areas of the body.
  • Insufficient water intake. Water helps the waste system operate, flushing toxins from your body. Drink 7 glasses of water a day.
  • Poor lifestyle consisting of lack of exercise, excess consumption of saturated fat and sugar, and poor hydration.
  • Smoking, it is not only bad for the skin and lungs, but it weakens the skin by causing constriction of capillaries. It further damages the connective tissue that causes the dimpling effect of cellulite, too.

Home remedy for the reduction of cellulite or to get rid of cellulite

Cellulite can be gradually eliminated by detoxification of body and speeding up metabolism. A healthy metabolism will remove cellulite forever.

  • Stop eating foods high in saturated and hydrogenated fats.
  • Drink at least 10 glasses of water daily.
  • Doing regular exercise or physical activity.
  • Stop skipping meals. eat a healthy diet at least 3 times a day.
  • Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables—low in calories yet packed with nutrients—and drink fruit and vegetable juices.

What is the difference between cellulite and fat?

Though everyone has a smooth layer of fat, individual amounts depend on weight, lifestyle and genetics. This fat layer is an insulator for the body and cushions the organs, muscles and nerves. Cellulite, on the other hand, is lumpy and provides no padding whatsoever. It only occurs in certain areas of the body: the thighs, buttocks, abdomen and breasts. When men get cellulite, it tends to be on the neck and abdomen.
